Facebook Ad Account Restricted? What to Check First

The worst first move is panic. The second worst is opening a new account. A restriction is a diagnosis problem before it is anything else.

By Manuar Jahan Rana · E-commerce Growth Partner

It usually starts with a red banner and a stopped campaign. Before doing anything else, slow down. Restrictions come in different kinds, they are fixed in different ways, and the wrong reaction, especially creating fresh accounts or assets to get around the block, can turn a temporary restriction into a permanent one. Work through the checks in order.

Step one: find out what exactly is restricted

A single rejected ad is not an account restriction. An advertising account restriction is not a business portfolio restriction. A payment hold stops ads for billing reasons, not policy ones. Each shows in a different place and each has a different path back. Read the notice carefully and note which asset it names: the ad, the account, the Page, the business, or the payment method.

Step two: open Account Quality

Account Quality is where Meta lists the issue, the asset affected and the action available to you. It is the only screen that matters at this point. Screenshots from friends and guesses from groups send people fixing the wrong thing. If a review button exists there, that is your official route. If the issue is listed as final, the honest position is that this particular asset is done, and your energy should go into protecting the rest of your business setup.

Step three: find the cause before you appeal

Appeals work better when the cause is fixed first. Common causes for advertisers in Bangladesh include repeated payment failures that look like risk, ad copy that makes claims Meta does not allow, landing pages that hide prices or delivery information, sudden unusual logins, and assets shared informally between many people. Ask which of these plausibly applies to you, fix that one properly, then request the review. An appeal that only says the restriction is unfair rarely changes anything.

While you wait

Your Page and organic posting are usually unaffected by an ad account restriction, so keep the shop visibly alive. Keep taking orders through Messenger and your website. Do not run ads from a borrowed account or a fresh business created for the purpose: if Meta connects it to the restricted setup, the new assets inherit the problem and your real business loses its clean history.

Prevention is mostly housekeeping

Keep your ad account, Page and Pixel inside your own business portfolio, with at least two trusted admins. Keep a working backup payment method. Write ad copy that avoids guaranteed results, miracle claims and before-after tricks. Verify your domain and keep your product pages honest about price and delivery. None of this is exciting, and together it prevents most restrictions I see. Accounts I manage under Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Ads management are set up this way from day one for exactly this reason.

Questions Business Owners Ask Me

How long does a review take?

It varies widely, from hours to weeks, and Meta does not give a reliable timeline. Fix the cause, submit once through Account Quality, and keep the business running organically while you wait. Repeated duplicate requests do not speed it up.

Will opening a new ad account solve it?

No. New assets created to work around a restriction are against the rules and are usually detected. When they are restricted too, you have lost time and sometimes the new assets as well. Work on the original through the official review.

Can I still sell while my ad account is restricted?

Usually yes. A restriction stops advertising, not your Page, your Messenger or your website. Many stores keep decent order flow organically while the review runs, especially if they post consistently and answer messages fast.
